Meet Abby...
Meet Abby. She is about the sweetest doggy (most of the time) that you will ever see. Abby is a German Short-haired Pointer, and although we are pretty sure she has never hunted a day in her life (she was a rescue), it is interesting to see her hunting and pointing nature, which her breed is bred to do. We can be walking Abby through South Park, and she will find a squirrel or bird across the park, and she begins her pointing stance, and there isn't much that will break her from it.
After we had Abby for just a couple of days, we thought we were in heaven. We thought that Abby was the calmest, most relaxed doggy in the world, which is the exact opposite of her breed. People couldn't believe that we were getting a German Short-haired Pointer, because of all of their energy. It turns out, the relaxed dog you see below was only that relaxed because she had kennel cough, and after she got over that, she 'found herself.'
Although she has come to be quite comfortable in her new life at 1329, she really is such a great dog. She definitely has spurts of high energy, but with walks here and there and plenty of time 'on the hunt' in the backyard, she is as relaxed as you would want her to be in the house.
This next picture is a little outdated, but any time we allow Abby on the couch or in the bed with us, she wants to assume this position. She is definitely spoiled rotten.
The whole idea behind getting a dog was that Joie wanted a kid, and I thought maybe we should see if we could keep a dog alive for a year or so first. So I told her that I thought it would be good 'training' to get a dog, before we had a child. The next day, we were at the pound, and after cherry picking several dogs, Abby (FKA Avery) found us. We have been so happy with our 'new' lives as dog-owners, and now that we are expecting our first child, we can't help but look back at how much fun having Abby in our lives has been. Hopefully she will adjust well to the new addition to the Bolick family. So far, she hates the one loud wooden toy that we picked up for Max. Nonetheless, this is Abby. We love her to pieces...

Meet Zak & Jo Marie

Here, we are, the happy couple that most of you all know us to be. Here, we are on our honeymoon, on the Pacific Ocean during our cruise through the Mexican Riviera. We were married December 30, 2007. That was an awesome day. It was then that I knew that I was the luckiest man alive, that I would spend the rest of my life with the girl of my dreams. Fast forward a year, to our 1st annual Tacky Christmas Sweater Party, where we transformed into the more entertaining side of our life.

Was that a fun night, or what? Well, obviously if you continue to follow this blog, you'll know far more about the stuff Jo Marie and I are up to. Hopefully, I have intrigued you enough to follow our blog (and Max's too), where I will soon get around to introducing Abby (the dog), and the humble abode we call 1329... You should note that this blog will be updated as regularly as a guy can handle, a guy that is balancing a pregnant wife, a dog, a house, a job, and graduate school, all at the same time. So, don't expect daily updates, but know that if something huge happens, you'll find it here! Later for now -- Zak
Why?
So, in creating a blog for Max, my son to be, I have really gotten into the whole blogging thing. There are many times that Jo Marie and I have something to share, but have realized that Max's blog may not be the place for such things as pictures of the progress of our home (which we are so proud of), or links to Joie's eBay sales. So, here we have it. You will be able to see pictures of (and hear things about) Jo Marie and I, the house, the dog, the things we do, etc...I hope you enjoy our life in Kansas as much as we do. Although it is not our final resting place, for now, it's perfect!
Our other blog which is for Max can be found at http://max-bolick.blogspot.com/
Enjoy!
